All You Need To Know About 'Red Fort'

When the bricks call and the windows ache, where the engravings speaks a thousand tales, you know you have reached the Red Fort in Old Delhi. Delhi is full of man made marvels that we call monuments, marvels made by rulers, kings and emperors hundreds of years back which still stand strong and firm, which the present day modern architects still praise, a piece of art and history which tells thousands of stories that transports you back in time. While there are so many there is one favourite of mine, which no matter how many time i visit, has something new to offer and that monument is :-

RED FORT

Constructed by the king Shah Jahan and designed by the famous architect Ustad Ahmed Lahauri who also designed Taj MAhal which is one of the 7 wonders of the world, the construction of Red fort commissioned on 15 may 1639 as Shah Jahan wanted to shift his capital from Agra to Delhi (Shahjahanabad then) , this enormous fort served as the emperors house and political centre, located at the heart of Delhi which is present-day Chandni chowk (Old Delhi). For those who still fail to be convinced about the beauty of this historical marvel can visit the Red Fort for the famous market it has in it which offers a great variety of Indian handicrafts and other Indian products which call for attention. Red fort has gained importance back in the pst few years as our Prime minister delivered a speech at The Red Fort on 15 August and hoisted the Indian flag, also the red fort appears on the back of the ₹500 note of the Mahatma Gandhi new series of the Indian Rupee.

Something so extensive yet so beautiful can not be defined in a paragraph, so what are you waiting for, go and see for yourself Also Do not forget to have the authentic Mughal sweet dish "Daulat ki chaat" near the Red Fort if you visit in Winters and Old Delhi Chaat ( Bhel puri) in summers.
